We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 5 Sexual Health Advisor within an established Sexual Health team based at the 1 to 1 centre in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
This post aims to deliver high-quality Sexual Health clinical care and Public Health interventions, in line with local and national policy. The successful candidate will be supported in acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies in Sexual Health Advising under the supervision of the Sexual Health lead.
The work involves managing a caseload of patients within the service, including face-to-face and phone consultations. When fully competent, the post holder is expected to run treatment clinics and administer medication as per PGD.
The post holder must be registered with the NMC Part 1 as a Registered Nurse (Adult). No previous experience is required. Team working is essential, with a positive approach to multidisciplinary and inter-agency collaboration.
The successful candidate will receive support through CPD and regular individual and group clinical supervision. The post is subject to DBS clearance.
The role includes supporting partner notification and applying public health principles to reduce STI/HIV transmission and improve community sexual health.
The post involves working within clinical governance and performance management frameworks, educating the public and professionals on sexual health issues, and contributing to service modernisation and achievement of performance targets within quality standards.
The post holder will utilize an electronic patient record system.
Our services are delivered across three major locality hospitals in North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We also provide home-based services and community clinics, offering patients greater choice and control to live independently and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
