JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a skilled CPE Architect, to join our Technology Platforms group, with experience in leading CPE software strategy and roadmaps for mass scale service provider Entertainment ecosystems.
In this role, you will:
1. Own, Develop and articulate LG’s CPE strategy internally and towards our key partners.
2. Maintain relationships with our CPE OEMs, Silicon partners and related 3rd parties, keeping well-informed, and guiding their roadmaps to ensure that LG’s interest can be upheld
3. Face into Industry bodies to influence developments and standardisation, including initiating and supervising activity with RDK to help align with LG’s overall strategy
4. Lead the LG CPE Technical strategy working closely with LG Entertainment platform product owners
5. Define video CPE requirements, define the SW architecture and supervise the development and integration activities driven by our hardware suppliers and our development partners to deliver new features
6. Activities will mainly focus on software aspects of the STB but will also include hardware and the STB integration to the entertainment platform

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
8. You will play an important role in creating the architecture artifacts. Defining SW architecture and communicating this to SW development partners
9. Translate business requirements into architectural framework and design.
10. Liaising with internal partners to capture functional & non-functional, network and end-to-end requirements and incorporating them in SW architecture
11. Reviewing and approving technical architecture and design from external vendors
12. Where needed, support integration activities for new features and SW components as well as reviewing SW implementation to confirm it corresponds to approved designs
13. Cooperation with external technology suppliers during development of STB software and hardware (SW vendors, HW vendors, CA vendors)
14. In conjunction with product owner define hardware and software specifications for new video CPE
15. Keeping track of industry trends and development and communicate this to peers and superiors
16. Being the Liberty Global representative in technical working groups of relevant standards bodies, specifically RDK.
17. Support technical discussions with major OTT application providers (e.g., Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video …) with regards to their integration into the LG entertainment platforms
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
18. Extensive experience of making things work better with technology
19. Proven track record to guide and craft employee experience using technology as a critical enabler
20. Ability to be credible at all levels of the organization. Our partners and opinion formers are at every level of the organization and it is critical that we listen to them all
21. Excellent English and good communicator, both written and spoken
22. Proven experience simplifying enhancing service experiences for customers
23. Expertise in design and development of RDK-V based STB software
24. Good understanding of RMF (Rdk Media Framework) and GStreamer
25. Good understanding of various IPCs like D-Bus, IARM etc
26. Good understanding of Linux internals
27. Good understanding of Yocto build system

29. Experience of technical project management or leading a distributed team in a SW development organization

32. Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role
33. First-rate strategic perception and insight must be complemented by the problem solving skills necessary to drive tactical implementation
34. Innovative and creative, able to bring new thinking to the organisation and our partners
35. Able to spot market trends, opportunities and threats
36. Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed in order to build strong, cooperative internal and external relationships across all levels and geographies
37. Great listener able to understand the other persons perspectives and needs, enabling strong partnerships
38. Strong written and oral communication necessary to evangelise with internal stakeholders and external partners and develop early stage strategic plans
39. Highly self-motivated and objective driven individual continuously keeping the end goal in mind

42. Organised and professional approach to work with enough flexibility to pivot when change is required
PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
43. Strong academics demonstrating intellectual curiosity and problem solving in complex environments
44. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject, educated to degree level in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications and/or have professional certification in a relevant area (E.g. RF Engineering; Mobile- Wi-Fi- Cable- Satellite- Telco- Communications; Consumer Electronics Engineering; …).
Or equivalent knowledge obtained through education and work experience:
45. Demonstrated ability with Linux based Embedded SW and real-time software for video CPE devices including both design and development
46. Good understanding of video CPE hardware, CA/DRM and network architecture and design
47. Experience from RDK is an advantage
