Job summary
Due to service expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our team.
We welcome applicants from community or other pharmacy sectors, and previous hospital experience is not essential.
This is a Band 4/5 progression post, with Band 5 covering accredited checking (if not already achieved) and leadership development for those already holding ACT status.
You will complete a comprehensive in‑house competency programme, including supervisory and leadership training, to equip you with the skills needed for hands‑on line management once competent.

Main duties of the job
* Provide excellent patient care for inpatients, outpatients and external units.
* Work with the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets to deliver an accurate, timely and cost‑effective pharmacy service.
* Duties include accurate labelling, dispensing and checking of a wide range of prescriptions, including controlled drugs, clinical trials, TPN, chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
* Medicines management rotations will offer direct patient contact, including taking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting safe and correct use of prescribed medicines and counselling patients on new treatments.
* A competency unit will be provided for each area to ensure full training is completed and competence is demonstrated before independent working is expected.

Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered as a Pharmacy technician with the GPHC
* 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 4‑9 (or grade A*‑C) to include Mathematics, English Language.

* Ability to work flexible hours including late evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
* This post may require you to work cross‑site so you will need a willingness to travel between sites.
