The British Red Cross seeks Independent Living A&E Volunteers to be based at the University Hospital of Wales Emergency, Cardiff. \r\n\r\n You will provide emotional support to adult patients, their relatives, and NHS staff in the A&E department and in queuing ambulances. This role involves volunteering in a busy A&E department. \r\n\r\n We would like you to:- \r\n\r\n \r\n\t Commit to a minimum of 6 hours at a time; ideally once a week, but will consider once a fortnight \r\n\t 10 am-8 pm Monday-Sunday, including bank holidays \r\n\t Commit to volunteering for at least six months \r\n\t Live within 45 minutes travel time of the hospital \r\n\t Driving is preferable but not essential. If you drive, you must have held a driving licence for at least two years which allows you to drive in the UK \r\n\t Be able to work in a pressurised environment (A&E) \r\n\t Be able to be on your feet throughout the shift \r\n\t Good internet\/ IT equipment access and the ability to use IT to complete the online & zoom onboarding processes. \r\n\t Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo an Enhanced with Adults Barred Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. \r\n\t Are available to undertake the required e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions within the first few months of volunteering (as detailed in the Learning Pathway attached), plus other specific training as required. \r\n \r\n\r\n Health and Safety Statement \r\n\r\n We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety.
