What you’ll be doing
As an R&D Cable Design & System Support Engineer at Prysmian Group you will contribute to the fulfilment of Prysmian’s Research and Development responsibilities by actively collaborating other relevant departments to design, develop and introduce new products that meet customer’s expectations and according to local and international standards. The role is key to contribute to the introduction of commercially viable new products, materials and technologies in Liverpool Energy Plant.
In addition to the above, the R&D Cable Design & System Support Engineer will provide technical support to other teams in the organization (local and overseas) and effectively collaborate to meet the company’s objectives. You will also support the R&D Cable Design Team by maintaining the Prysmian Cable Design System for the Oceania region to ensure it aligns with current internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assessment of market requests ranging from single item through to major tender.
2. Support R&D activities with R&D manager and Laboratory.
3. Communicate with Commercial, Logistics and Manufacturing to offer in relation to design, manufacture and delivery of fit for purpose cable
4. Maintain assigned outputs in line with agreed Company and departmental KPI's
5. Support Commercial with technical responses in line with agreed service provision limits
6. Maintain a working knowledge of Australian / New Zealand standards sufficient to support market inquiries
7. Fluently use the cable design system to design the power cable and transfer the correct information to SAP1C when required.
8. Maintaining the Prysmian Cable Design System for the Oceania region.
9. Participate in all nominated teams and actively support such teams at agreed levels.
10. Understand HS&E policies and obligations then provide HS&E leadership within Prysmian.
11. Understand key Quality requirements pertaining to cable
Who you are
12. You are a team player with the capability to lead in a fast paced environment.
13. You may have good knowledge of polymer processing (i.e. extrusion) and good statistical knowledge.
14. You have a strong ability to work independently and can collaborate between interdisciplinary teams.
15. You have excellent computer skills and good knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar package) to design tooling/read drawings.
16. You will have at least 2 years in a similar role (i.e. Product Design, Process Engineer, Product Development Engineer)
17. You have Tertiary qualifications in Engineering – Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial or Electronics.
