Reed Accountancy are delighted to be working with respected organisation within the finance and professional services sector is seeking an enthusiastic, highly accurate Accounts Assistant to support their busy Finance Department during a period of maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of key finance processes.
The Role
As the Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient administration of the Purchase Ledger function, supporting the wider finance team, and maintaining strong relationships with internal colleagues and external suppliers. Working full-time, on a 9-month fixed-term contract and paying a salary of up to £28,000K depending on experience.
Key responsibilities include:
* Acting as the primary contact for the accounts payable function for one business entity.
* Processing financial documentation, including purchase requisitions, invoices, utility bills, statements, and subcontractor payments (including retention deductions).
* Monitoring expenditure, including hire schedules and consumables.
* Completing daily bank reconciliations.
* Posting journals related to services as required.
* Producing and managing payment runs.
* Managing and maintaining the creditors ledger, ensuring supplier accounts remain accurate.
* Conducting supplier statement reconciliations.
* Processing new supplier forms in line with internal procurement procedures.
* Supporting month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
* Collaborating with colleagues across various departments.
What Success Looks Like
* Accurate posting of invoices to correct departments, nominal codes, and entities.
* Strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Meeting month-end deadlines in accordance with the finance calendar.

Experience & Skills
Essential:
* Previous experience in a high-volume finance or data input role
* Strong customer service and communication skills
* Proficiency in SAGE 50 Accounts
* Good working knowledge of Word
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Desirable:
* Experience within construction or housebuilding
* Understanding of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
