Overview
Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to work within the Stroke (Neurology) specialty.
Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a large busy acute teaching hospital with defined links to Hull University and is itself a Major Trauma Centre. The post holders will work alongside colleagues to support the assessment of need across a range of clinical conditions within the Stroke and neurology service, with varying degrees of complexity. As an occupational therapist you will have direct input into the assessment and treatment of patients, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life.
Responsibilities
Adapt quickly to changing work environments and work well and dynamically within a team. Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build networks to enable appropriate partnerships with other agencies involved in patient care to identify and address immediate and ongoing needs for highly complex caseloads. Assess and treat patients in a timely manner within a rapid paced environment. Enable patients in positive risk taking, personalised care, assessment of capacity, cognitive assessments, manual handling, functional assessment and knowledge of the Stroke care pathways, with opportunities to enhance and develop these skills in this role.
Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holders will be supported to contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a senior occupational therapist, the post holders will be a role model for their team and will lead in delivering high quality care while motivating colleagues to do the same.
Qualifications and Experience
The post would suit a current Band 6 who wishes to expand their experience in Stroke and Neurology, or a Band 5 Occupational Therapist who feels ready for the challenge of a senior post within this clinical specialty. The applicant should have recent UK experience and have completed foundation B5 rotations, including Stroke/Neurology at B5 or B6 level.
