As part of the Skills and Employability team, we lead the government‑funded Skills Bootcamps programme for Staffordshire and Stoke‑on‑Trent, commissioning and delivering a diverse range of adult learning opportunities that help people gain new skills, grow in their careers, and achieve their ambitions. We’re now looking for a dynamic and forward‑thinking leader to join us as our Adult Learning & Skills Coordinator. Based at Staffordshire Place 1 in central Stafford, you’ll also enjoy the flexibility to work from home depending on business needs. Travel within the local area and wider region will be required, with business mileage and expenses reimbursed as a casual car user. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity, with the potential for review subject to future funding. Main Responsibilities In this key role, you’ll report to the Head of Adult Learning & Skills and take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of the Skills Bootcamps programme across the region—ensuring high‑quality delivery and meaningful outcomes for learners and employers alike. You'll also: Line manage Project Support Officer, and a Community Learning Officer responsible for the contract management of Providers across Skills Bootcamps and Community Learning. Work in collaboration with stakeholders, and specifically employers to ensure provision continues to meet the local skills and employment priorities for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and contributing to the procurement and commissioning of services. Manage and allocate the budget and effectively implementing and monitoring funding, payments and quality assurance. Support and influence the design and development of the Skills Bootcamps curriculum. Report on performance and undertaking submissions and performance reviews with the Department for Education and/or other funders. The Ideal Candidate Ideally you'll have a full teaching qualification and degree or relevant experience. You will have effective communication and inter-personal skills and be passionate about adult learning and have the energy and enthusiasm in order to be enterprising, innovative and forward thinking to lead and develop the Skills Bootcamps programme effectively. You should also be able to demonstrate: substantial knowledge and experience of delivering and managing non-accredited and accredited Adult Skills provision and programmes and implementing quality assurance and compliance activities, experience of commissioning processes and procedures. detailed knowledge of funding regulations, inspection and accountability regime governing adult learning, experience of planning, designing and delivering programmes of learning for adults, including with an outcomes focus, experience of managing people and developing professional expertise to secure high quality outcomes for our learners, the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including employers.
