Why This Role Matters
Our Electrical Power & Cooling Engineers are essential in maintaining BT’s networks 24/7, 365 days a year. They utilize their expertise in Low and High Voltage systems, generators, emergency lighting, cooling, alarms, and UPS systems to ensure continuous operation of the BT estate across various environments, including exchange buildings, radio sites, rooftops, and outdoor locations. They support electrical power systems and cooling equipment to meet strict SLAs, taking ownership of their patches and mentoring colleagues.
A comprehensive technical training program will cover maintenance activities, delivered through face-to-face, virtual, internal, and external methods, possibly involving overnight stays and travel.
The role requires participation in an out-of-hours callout framework (typically a 1 in 4 rotation) to support 24x7 service, with details finalized after training completion.
A full UK manual driver’s license is mandatory.

* Suggesting process improvements.
* Monitoring compliance, including health surveillance, and maintaining professional appearance.
What You'll Bring
Physical capability to perform role duties (bending, stretching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, working at various heights, lifting heavy items, recognizing wiring colors).
Mandatory qualifications/experience:
* City & Guilds 2360 parts 1+2 or equivalent NVQ/industry qualification.
* BTEC Electrical Engineering Level 3/HNC/HND/MOET Level 3/ET Level 3 or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications/experience:
* 18th Edition Regulations or current electrical standards.
* Inspection, Testing and Verification (C&G 2392-10).
* Experience with UPS systems.
* F-GAS Category 1 certification.
* Experience repairing and maintaining air conditioning split systems.
* Experience with DC power systems.
* Coaching, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
* Note: Qualifications may evolve; ongoing training will cover all necessary skills.
* Experienced hires will undergo assessment to identify training needs; trainees must achieve full qualification within set timelines.
* A valid UK manual driving license is required.
