We are seeking a dedicated, nurturing, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ASD in a supportive Birmingham primary school (B42).
This is a full-time, long-term supply position with the potential for a more permanent opportunity for the right candidate.
About the Child:
* Has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
* Benefits from consistent structure and calm, patient guidance
* Is taught away from the main class environment for most of the day
* Responds well to Makaton, Symbols, and PECS (experience in these is highly desirable)
* Needs a 1:1 SEN TA to support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation throughout the school day
Ideal Candidate:
️ Proven experience supporting children with ASD in a primary setting
️ Skilled in using communication tools such as Symbols, Makaton, and/or PECS
️ Patient, consistent, and resilient
️ Able to build a strong, trusting relationship while setting clear boundaries
️ Committed to supporting the child’s progress socially, emotionally, and academically
