Biomedical Imaging Scientist
Do you have an interest in human anatomy and MRI analysis? Do you have experience working in biomedical image analysis or an interest in the application of research to biomedical problems?
About the role
As a Biomedical Imaging Scientist based in the Data Science team you will help develop methods to accelerate and scale new and existing workflows, research new image analysis methods, validate prototypes and support their translation into clinical trials. You will assess, critique, and implement image analysis techniques from the literature so that quantitative measurements can be made in a systematic, repeatable, and reproducible manner. Your work will especially support Perspectum’s Pharma Solutions business and will involve interacting with many other teams, including Image Analysis, Quality Assurance, Data Management, Engineering, and Business Development.
Your Duties will include:
* Supporting pipeline development of new systems and workflows
* Implementation and extension of techniques from academic literature
* Rapid prototyping of novel analysis combinations
* Creation of analysis guidance and documentation
* Deployment and monitoring of new workloads and pharma projects
* Monitor performance of analysis workflows
* Keep up to date with advances in the overlapping biomedical fields, through the literature, team discussion meetings, and conference attendance
* Collaborate with internal research teams and on external research collaborations
* Creating and delivering training packages to image analysts
* Providing support to image analysts with anatomical queries
About You
You will be educated to a degree level (preferably Master’s degree) in a relevant scientific discipline in the biomedical sciences (e.g. Anatomy, Physiology, Radiography, Pharmacology, Human Biology, or similar).
You will possess strong organisation, written, and verbal communication skills as well as ability to thrive in a team as well as individual environment.
Your knowledge and experience will include:
* Comprehensive grounding in human physiology
* Evidence of an interest in the application of research to biomedical problems
* Evidence of research achievement in areas relating to human anatomy and physiology
Desirable experience includes:
* Experience of medical image analysis
* Experience of using statistical software (e.g. R)
* Human anatomy studies
* Modern computer vision methods, including U-Net and transformer models
* MRI, DXA
* Working with UK Biobank data
* Clinical trials
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
* Medical device development
* DICOM, NIfTI, AWS, Python, PyTorch
