What You’ll Do
* Providing knowledge and technical capabilities in the development and validation of new and existing products, analyzing mechanical systems and equipment.
* Conducting feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
* Directly supporting associates in the preparation of design testing and prototype fabrication.
* Providing design support to drafting for packaging documentation.
* Leading and supporting design reviews for NPDs and new component production, including measurement testing for tolerance confirmation, specification definition, conversion of outputs to CAD and 3D CAD models (e.g., reverse engineering and SolidWorks), practical development through 3D prototyping and finishing, and other material handling tools and device testing.
* Working with internal cross-functional teams and external customers to develop Process Validation and design transfer protocols and support manufacturing transfer, efficiency and reliability.
* Complying with safety practices and ensuring all work is conducted in a safe manner within company and statutory requirements and regulations.
* Collaborating with Supply Chain, Project Management, Product Management and Quality to form product requirement specifications that ensure customer satisfaction (especially in laboratory filtration). Working with Sourcing and Supplier Quality Engineering on raw material performance, supplier audits, and acting as a technical expert. Applying knowledge of device manufacturing processes such as injection molding, materials, advanced manufacturing, and automated production lines.
* Technical writing of reports, publications and product support materials to agreed timelines.
Who You Are
* Bachelor’s degree (Hon.) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, or demonstrable equivalent experience in an engineering or technical discipline.
* Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in an R&D or engineering role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably in the Life Sciences or Healthcare sector.
* Hands-on experience with plastic engineering and injection molding technologies, including the design and development of prototype solutions. Familiarity with additive manufacturing (3D printing) is also required.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in technical report writing, and producing product and manufacturing support materials to agreed timelines.
* Demonstrates rigorous analytical thinking, is self-motivated and eager to continuously learn. Capable of working independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
