Overview

Empowering Learning are working with a Primary and a Secondary Special Needs School in Leeds who are seeking Teaching Assistants/Behaviour Support Workers to support in their classrooms on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. These roles are to start ASAP and are temp to perm.

You will be involved in classroom duties and off-site recreational activities, supporting children with Autism, ADHD and Challenging Behaviours.


Responsibilities

* Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students.
* Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
* Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
* Support students in their academic and social development.
* Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
* Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.


Skills

* Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviours.
* Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
* Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
* Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviours.
* Knowledge of toddler care and development is a plus.

This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to supporting the educational needs of students. The teaching assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is essential.
