In Workforce we help some of the leading UK and International employers make the most of their biggest asset – their people. It’s such a diverse area, where we work on projects helping business leaders define their HR strategy, through to advising clients on how to improve the effectiveness of their workforce. Helping senior executives understand their global personal tax obligations, to implementing cutting‑edge technology in the HR space. We work on projects across all sectors of the economy, providing vital support to clients. Whatever you work on, you'll learn about employment tax risk, employment cost reduction and employer social responsibility.
Programme
During this three-day paid programme you’ll get an insight into what a career at PwC could look like, you’ll meet mentors and buddies who’ll represent the variety of opportunities available across PwC. You’ll meet some of our colleagues to hear about their own personal career journeys, as well as from some of our networks focussed on Inclusion and Diversity. Through interactive sessions the programme will help you to develop confidence in a business setting and encourage you to bring your whole self to the workplace. Our Social Mobility Pathway programme will be a 3-day paid programme, 16 - 18 April 2024. You will need to be in the UK to complete this programme. During the Social Mobility Pathway programme, you will be assessed using a variety of methods to deem your eligibility to be offered a place on our Summer Internship programme 2025. By applying to the Social Mobility Pathway programme, you are confirming that you will be available to complete the Summer Internship programme in July 2025 should you receive a subsequent offer.
What you'll do
Transformation is one of the key activities within the Workforce team. In Transformation, you'll be aligned to one of the following teams; Workforce and HR Transformation, Change and Communications or People in Deals. You’ll work on diverse projects across all sectors of the economy, providing vital support to clients to attract, retain and develop a productive workforce to ensure sustainable business growth.
Workforce and HR Transformation
You'll work with clients to maximise value by connecting people objectives with their business strategy. Working with HR Directors and business leaders we develop highly effective strategies and improved functions to help HR deliver their commitment of performance and growth to the business. Workforce and HR Transformation services include support from the planning and design phases through to implementation and deployment.
The team provides advice in a range of areas including:
- global HR transformation, including HR process improvement
- developing future strategic direction of HR service delivery to meet business requirements
- developing a new HR operating model and planning the transition for change including policies, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and technology enablers
- evaluation of extending HR Business Process and Outsource opportunities
- defining and agreeing future HR capabilities and undertaking assessment processes of the current state
- driving and embedding cultural change through the people's agenda.
Change and Communication
People are at the centre of any organisational change. Whether it's a large-scale technology deployment, an organisation faced with challenges to its reputation, or a requirement to shift culture and behaviours, focusing and supporting people through change is critical to long term success.
The Change and Communications team works with senior business leaders to develop the right strategy, articulate a compelling narrative, and design the right immersive and digital communication techniques to successfully communicate changes, and make big changes happen.
You could be involved in the following:
- manage client engagements focusing on high quality deliverables such as change management strategies, communications plans and culture assessments.
- define and execute innovative activities to deliver change such as immersive engagement events and implementing cutting edge technology
- helping the business grow through managing and delivering business development activities such as proposals and bids,as well as identifying opportunities with new and existing clients
- support the developing practice through managing propositions, identifying new tools & technology and contributing to thought leadership
- build networks internally and externally and develop expertise in the area of change, communications and culture
People in Deals
Our People in Deals team advises on all aspects of buying, selling or listing businesses both in the UK and internationally. Our work ranges from conducting due diligence for private equity, corporate and public sector organisations, to planning and implementing post-deal integration and business restructuring. Projects are both legally and operationally complex, varied, and very fast-paced.
You could be involved in the following:
- investigating people issues in a target business to identify costs and risks for a potential buyer.
- helping the seller of a business tell a compelling HR story to potential buyers.
- project management of the carve out of a division for sale by a large corporate organisation.
- working with HR teams to plan and deliver major restructuring programmes.
- assessing likely flight risks following a deal, by looking at how incentives such as shares are affected.
- assisting an HR function to prepare for the listing of a business on the stock market.
- supporting a public sector organisation in determining whether their business case for insourcing is robust.
What you’ll need
You'll need to be on track to pass an undergraduate degree or above in any subject. We determine whether you're on course to pass based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study.
You'll need to be a first year undergraduate university student on a three-year degree course; or
You'll need to be a second year undergraduate university students on a four-year degree course.
When to apply
To join the Social Mobility Pathway programme you'll have to complete and pass two stages of our selection process; the online test and video interview.
