From the sublime designed landscapes of Aira Force and Tarn Hows to the homes of some of the most important people in history, including Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop and the former home of Wordworth and Canon Rawnsley at Allan Bank in Grasmere.You will be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA), with requirement to work occasionally at other National Trust sites in the Lake District, as your role requires.You’ll be the lead for developing the visitor experience in the outdoors, with a focus on Wray, Tarn Hows, Aira Force and Acorn Bank as well as some of our other visitor places – permissive paths, car parks and popular walks.You’ll also provide duty management cover for Wray as part of a rota.You will contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, collaborative work environment focused on delivering the Trust’s strategy. You will work closely with cross-departmental colleagues to lead staff and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor service, presentation standards and conservation standards. You will primarily be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA), but as part of your role you will help our teams across our outdoor sites in the Lake District create experiences that drive visitor growth and repeat visits. These will include developing waymarked routes, outdoor trails and visitor itineraries, as a few examples.This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. This will involve working more days in the summer and fewer in winter. This arrangement could be negotiable if you need to work the same hours each week.
