The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the expanding Research Governance, Compliance & Risk team. The post holder leads on the activities of the Research Security and Compliance area of the team, providing expert advice and guidance on compliance with national and international security and export control legislation and the UK government’s Trusted Research agenda. The post holder will work with key stakeholders on developing and implementing policies, guidance and training to ensure that the University meets its regulatory and legal obligations and upholds its commitments to the highest standards of research integrity, governance and compliance.
Role Details
The Opportunity (continued): The post holder will lead on the activities of the Research Security and Compliance area of the team and work with key stakeholders to develop and implement policies, guidance and training to ensure regulatory and legal obligations are met and to uphold high standards of research integrity, governance and compliance.
You will work closely alongside other members of the team, professional service and academic colleagues across all Colleges and Schools, including the Edinburgh Research Office, as well as related professionals in other universities through established networks.
Your Skills And Attributes For Success
* Experience of working in a similar or related role
* Experience of complex export control and security issues as they relate to research
* Understanding of relevant trusted research related legislation, regulations and codes of practice and the risks of non-compliance
* Proven experience of analysing complex issues and identifying ways forward
* Proven excellent professional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence change
* Experience of working across multiple levels of authority
* Experience of managing a complex and diverse workload, identifying priorities and being flexible when they shift, while still meeting key targets
* Recent relevant experience of export control licensing
