Teaching Assistant required as soon as possible Permanent, part time working 32.5 hours per week (Term Time plus 5 INSET days, working 39 weeks per year) Salary: Grade 4 (SCP5-6): £25,583 to £25,989 per annum pro rata Actual Salary: £19,414 to £19,722 per annum Rugeley John Taylor School, part of John Taylor MAT, is proud to be growing the only ‘all-through’ school within our Trust family. Having opened our doors to our first cohort, we are continuing to build a school that will serve local communities from the earliest years right through to sixth form, offering a ‘gold standard’ learning experience. As we expand, we continue to embed the core features of John Taylor MAT that have become a hallmark of its success. We are commencing the search for a committed, adaptable and caring Teaching Assistant who can provide dedicated support to a number of pupils including those with medical needs. The successful candidate will be provided with full specialist training to manage health needs, including tracheostomy awareness and care and supporting pupils with diabetes management. This role provides opportunities to gain experience beyond a typical classroom support role. Working alongside teachers and the wider SEND and pastoral teams, you will help to create inclusive opportunities for pupils to engage fully in school life. You may also support the use of technology, such as an AV1 robot, to facilitate learning for specific pupils who are unable to attend school on occasion. As part of our transition programme, you will play an important role in helping pupils and their families prepare for life at Rugeley John Taylor. This may include involvement in transition events, meeting pupils ahead of their start date, gathering important information about their needs, and helping to ensure that each child feels confident, supported and ready for the move into Year 7. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity in which your work will have a profound impact on the wellbeing, independence and school experience of several young people. In addition to the required qualifications and experience, you could be ideal for this role if you have: Experience of working in a medical, care or health-based setting (beneficial but full training provided) Experience supporting 1–1 or small groups within a school Experience working with children with SEND and specific needs Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to children Self-motivation and the ability to take responsibility Technical skills to adapt to new technology The ability to build professional relationships with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders Above all, you must be able to demonstrate a deep commitment to the needs of pupils, ensuring their safety, comfort and inclusion, while proactively removing barriers to create an enjoyable, nurturing and secure learning environment. Completed application forms should be emailed to he.brass@rjt.jtmat.co.uk Only fully completed application forms will be submitted for shortlisting. CVs will not be accepted.
