For over 50 years, Autograph Sound has been a leading supplier of audio and communication solutions for theatre and events in the UK and worldwide. We are passionate about quality and reliability and our diverse team of designers, engineers and technicians blend creativity with cutting edge technology to deliver solutions that sound stunning every time. From musical and arena productions to corporate events and product launches, our attention to detail and demand for the highest levels of quality remain at the heart of every event irrespective of size and complexity.

Description:

We require a motivated individual to join an existing but adapting department, soon to move from Kentish Town to be set up in our new home of Perivale. The applicant will be responsible for the maintenance, installation and specification of digital audio and control systems. The department deals with a variety of digital equipment from computers and digital mixing consoles to network-based audio transport systems, communications systems and radio systems. We collaborate closely with other departments within the company and with external Sound Designers and Production Sound Engineers.

The department has grown out of a need to supply and support the increasing need for digital equipment within the sound industry and offers the opportunity to develop an understanding of many varied technologies. Developing skills is an important part of this role and Autograph will support the successful applicant in doing this either with in house or external training where necessary.

Duties will include:

· Projects: carrying out preparation, testing, and deployment of digital equipment for hire and production projects, sometimes including rack building.

· Technical Oversight: ensuring the correct configuration, maintenance, and documentation of digital systems including but not limited to:

* Mixing consoles and control surfaces
* Network switches and Digital infrastructure
* Computers and show control systems
* DSP units and outboard effects
* Monitoring systems and digital interfaces

· Workflow and Quality Assurance: developing, documenting, and refining processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and technical excellence across digital operations.

· Collaboration: working closely with other departments (RF, Comms/Video/Mics, and Technical Support/Service) as well as Production Engineers to ensure cohesive technical delivery on all projects.

· Innovation and Training: keeping abreast of emerging technologies, ensuring the department remains at the forefront of digital audio-visual solutions. Provide guidance and training to staff where required.

· Maintenance and Inventory Upkeep: deploying regular servicing, firmware updates, and system checks, ensuring all digital equipment is performance-ready and well-documented.

· Operational Flexibility: participating in the company's standby rota, travel to project sites across the UK (and occasionally abroad), and support onsite setups as required.

· Strong experience with professional digital audio and control systems, preferably within theatre or live events.

· An understanding of computers.

· Proven people skills, with a focus on clear communication and team development.

· In-depth understanding of digital networking and AV system integration.

· An ability to work in an often past-paced environment and adapt to the needs of the day.

· Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and resourceful under pressure.

· Familiarity with major digital console platforms (e.g. Yamaha, DiGiCo, Allen & Heath) and DSP systems.

· Competence with computer-based show control, monitoring, and audio networking tools.

· Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail and documentation.

· A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and technical innovation.

· Full UK driving licence and valid passport essential.
