Overview
Role within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (Band 7). This position supervises a technical section within the Department, directing the work of scientific and support staff in the day-to-day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service. The role involves providing and coordinating specialist clinical technical services including research and audit, developing the section in line with departmental objectives, and leading training and instruction of staff within the section.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for management of a technical section within the Department, directing the work of the other scientific and support staff in the day to day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
* Provides and coordinates specialist clinical technical services including research and audit.
* Developing the section in line with departmental objectives.
* To provide a lead role in the training and instruction of staff within their section.

Key Requirements
* HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
* Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience.
* MSc or equivalent qualification.
* Advanced experience of microbiology.
* Experience in training and supporting registration and specialist portfolios in medical microbiology.
* Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.
* Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends.
* Excellent communication skills together with excellent organisational skills are essential requirements for this post.
