Temporary Accountant (Public Sector) Location: Armagh Salary: £47,304 per annum Job Type: Full-time OR Part Time Our client seeks to appoint a dedicated (qualified) Accountant to support the Head of Finance, ensuring sound financial practices within the organisation in line with Managing Public Money Northern Ireland and other financial protocols. This role involves managing financial processes, maintaining records, and handling all financial aspects of external grant applications. Day-to-day of the role: Oversee the operation of the computerised financial accounting system (Sage 200), ensuring timely and accurate data input, processing, and reporting. Maintain and manage the Project Accounting module on Sage 200. Raise purchase orders and assist with budgetary control and monitoring of expenditure. Prepare monthly VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and assist with the preparation of year-end accounts. Manage financial reporting for external grant applications. Prepare payroll information monthly and liaise with payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely processing. Liaise with internal and external auditors to provide evidence of compliance with financial policies and procedures. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure all financial records are managed according to policy. Required Skills & Qualifications: All applicants must be a full, current member of a recognised professional accounting body (CAI, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent qualification). At least two years' post-qualification experience in a similar role. Competence in IT systems including Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
