Location: Barrow-in-Furness – Hybrid (2 days onsite per fortnight, depending on business needs)

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems. Your responsibilities will include:

Developing and managing requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and products.
* Understanding contractual and performance requirements, supporting the definition of acceptance criteria through all phases of design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning.
* Producing essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams, technical specifications, and supporting calculations.
* Reviewing supplier documentation and ensuring accurate capture and recording.
* Ensuring comprehensive design proving evidence is captured and endorsed appropriately.
* Maintaining compliance with contractual requirements and company standards.
* Conducting design reviews and presentations to customers.
* Providing technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities.
* Supporting Certificate of Design activities and articulating complex technical arguments clearly.
* Delivering technical input and engineering solutions for build activities and defect resolution.
Your Skills and Experiences
We’re looking for someone with:
* BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent.
* Progress towards professional registration.
* Strong technical report writing skills.
* Demonstrable experience in the engineering lifecycle.
* Knowledge of defence standards (a plus, but not essential).
* Experience in system calculations, modelling, and analysis.
* Understanding of at least one of the following areas:
o Instrumentation and control system theory, including PID control.
o Electrical circuit design, EMC precautions, and power supply characteristics.
o Safety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511.
o Control panel detail design.
o Fieldbus technology (Profibus/Profinet).

About the Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team
This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team on the SSNA program and next-generation submarine design. You will support Principal Engineers and external specialists in the development, analysis, integration, and verification of platform control and instrumentation systems.
In this role, you will lead analysis and produce technical reports, managing and maturing operator control console design to meet defined criteria and program demands.
We also offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
