Job Title: Project Engineer (Contract)
Location: Easington, E. Yorkshire On-site (COMAH Site)
Contract: Initial 6 Months Inside IR35
Hours: 37.5 per week, early finish on a Friday.
A respected independent operator within the UK's energy infrastructure sector is seeking a detail oriented and proactive Project Engineer to help deliver its 2025 asset improvement programme. This is a hands on contract role at a critical operational facility, ideal for someone experienced in brownfield projects and technical upgrades within a COMAH-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and support the delivery of small to medium scale brownfield projects through front end development, execution, and close-out.
* Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and contractor teams to implement upgrades to mechanical systems, access infrastructure, and safety equipment.
* Prepare and manage technical documentation including Statements of Requirements, Scopes of Work, cost estimates, and schedules.
* Provide engineering input into the planning and coordination of site activities, ensuring alignment with operational and safety standards.
* Support site maintenance teams in the execution of technically complex upgrades.
* Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation planning and safety assurance.
* Actively participate in review meetings and short-term planning sessions.
* Promote and support innovation and continuous improvement across engineering and project delivery processes.
Essential Criteria:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
* 2-5 years' experience working in a high-hazard (COMAH) environment.
* Proven track record in engineering support or delivery of brownfield projects.
* Knowledge of process plant operations, engineering compliance, and project costing.
* Strong communication and planning skills able to work cross functionally with technical teams.
* Comfortable using MS Office tools and engineering documentation systems.
Desirable:
* Relevant certifications (NEBOSH, PMI, API) or professional memberships.
* Experience in energy, petrochemical, or industrial utilities environments.
* Familiarity with utility system upgrades such as pumps, valves, and access systems.
* Exposure to lean project delivery and risk management frameworks.
