Overview
The Oncology SACT Navigator will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in caring for the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients and carers who attend the Chemotherapy Suite throughout their treatment pathway. Under the guidance and supervision of the Oncology Unit Manager/Unit Co-ordinator, the Navigator will be responsible for co-ordinating the patient pathway, with a focus on ensuring timely co-ordination of new patients receiving their first cycles of treatment. The role may require cross cover of the other SACT Navigators during periods of leave.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the patient pathway and ensure timely initiation of treatment for new patients starting their first cycles.
* Cross cover other SACT Navigators during periods of leave.
* Maintain daily direct contact with patients and their families, providing support and advice, and act as the main point of contact liaising with medical, nursing, and pharmacy teams.
* Carry out administrative tasks deemed suitable to the role by the Oncology Unit Manager.
Collaboration
You will work alongside other health professionals including medical teams, pharmacy, pathology, nursing and the patient and their family/carers. You will also develop good working relationships with secondary care and community colleagues.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Self-driven and extremely organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Confident communicating with a variety of teams.
* Ideally some previous experience in Oncology/Haematology or Chemotherapy.
