Location: Simonsfield Care Home, 53 Boston Avenue
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to Residents in our Residential home. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our Residents by assisting with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others.

Main Responsibilities
* Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting People in our Care with daily living activities such as washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and related tasks.
* Assist People in all aspects of their care needs (physical, emotional, and spiritual), maintaining comfort and dignity.
* Support People with limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties, using aids provided.
* Monitor People who may be confused or have behavioural problems; promote continence where appropriate.
* Support care for People who are dying or have a progressive illness, and assist with end-of-life care.
* Observe care planning needs and complete daily records in line with Company policies.
* Support in social activities, helping Residents continue hobbies and activities in the Care Home.
* Respond to Nursecall system and communicate messages promptly; assist with door and telephone duties as required.
* Report on the well-being of People under supervision and guidance of senior Care Staff.
* Carry out regular checks on People at intervals determined by senior Staff Members.
* Make Visitors feel welcome and provide refreshments/assistance as required.
* Make and change beds; keep rooms clean and tidy, and manage waste in line with disposal policies.
* Clean and maintain equipment used by People/Relatives (e.g., wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles).
* Care for People’s clothing and rooms as named; ensure clothing is recorded and clearly marked where applicable.
* Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved in line with policies.
* Assist with meals (consider swallowing difficulties and dietary requirements); serve food/drinks, set/clear tables, and wash up as required.
* Escort People to activities, appointments, and outings.
* Maintain integrity in dealings with People’s personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship.
* Assist with safe moving and handling during rearrangement of bedrooms when required.
Communication
* Participate in Staff and Client meetings as required.
Training And Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site as required.
* Participate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health And Safety
* Report any illness or accident involving a person in care, colleagues, self, or others to the Home Manager or Person in Charge.
* Understand and implement the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency/Fire procedures.
* Report faulty appliances or hazards to the Home Manager or Handyperson.
* Promote safe working practices and maintain confidentiality of information.
* Notify leave or absence in accordance with company policy.
* Ensure the security of the Care Home is maintained at all times and that equipment is clean and well maintained.
* Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
