Ambulance Care Assistant (OOH) role at EMED Group based in Crewe.
Start date for training – Monday 29th September. You must be able to start on this date.
An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.
Responsibilities
* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone; hold a full UK driving licence and maintain a good degree of physical fitness.
* Assist with handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs, or similar, in hospital and during flights.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Keep the ambulance safe, clean and tidy.
* Assist with the transportation of end-of-life service users with empathy.
* Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Assist with patient handling and moving; ensure safety at all times.
Requirements
* Committed to patient care.
* Effective communicator, able to handle emotional circumstances.
* Calm, considerate driver, with no more than 3 penalty points on your license.
* Natural team player with collaborative spirit.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Hold a valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
* Able to work flexible shifts.
* Familiar with the local and surrounding area.

Other Duties
* Assisting in the transportation of end-of-life service users with empathy.
* Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospital or to family/friends.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in hospital and during medical flights.
* Assisting service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
What you will need to be considered
