Medical Engineering (EBME) Technician
Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board
The Medical Engineering (EBME) Team supports all users of medical equipment in the acute and community hospitals within the Health Board, ensuring that equipment is always safe for use and performs as expected, maintaining the safety of both users and patients.
Previous experience of medical equipment is desirable but not essential. Extensive experience in repair and maintenance of complex electronic equipment is required. Support and training are offered, providing excellent career prospects. The successful candidate will be appraised yearly, with opportunities for knowledge and skill development.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide technical support related to a wide range of medical equipment throughout the East region of BCULHB. Duties include:
1. Repair, calibration, planned maintenance, and commissioning of medical equipment.
2. Providing advice and support to users on the functions and maintenance of devices.
3. Assisting in evaluating maintenance requirements, investigating incidents, and testing equipment.
4. Requisitioning spares and materials, accepting deliveries, and booking equipment following set procedures.
5. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technical developments.
6. Having a flexible approach to working hours to meet service needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: Professional electronics knowledge to degree level or HNC/HND plus relevant training or equivalent experience in electronics.
Desirable: Completion of an electronics-based apprenticeship.
Experience
Essential:
* Experience in fault diagnosis and repair of electronic instrumentation on industrial or medical equipment.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* Understanding of working within a clinical environment.
Desirable: Experience mentoring trainees or students.
