About the Role
Hays Education is recruiting Qualified Humanities Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a variety of secondary schools in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are looking for confident teachers specialising in any of the key Humanities subjects, including:
1. History
2. Geography
3. Religious Studies (RS)
4. Citizenship
5. Sociology (where applicable)
We offer a mix of:
6. Day‑to‑day supply
7. Short‑term block placements
8. Long‑term Humanities roles available now, after Easter, and from September

What you'll be doing
As a Humanities Supply Teacher, you will:
9. Teach your specialist subject across Key Stages 3 and 4
10. Deliver pre‑planned lessons and maintain student engagement
11. Manage classroom behaviour professionally and with confidence
12. Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive learning environment
13. Adapt quickly to different schools, schemes of work and department expectations
Long‑term roles may also include planning, marking, assessment and participation in department meetings.
What you'll need to succeed
14. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
15. A specialism in History, Geography, RS, or related Humanities subject
16. Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements accepted)
17. Strong behaviour management and the ability to engage mixed‑ability groups
18. The right to work in the UK
19. An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one
20. A flexible and proactive approach to supply work
21. ECTs are encouraged to apply
