The role
A growing engineering business in the North East is looking to appoint a QHSE Advisor to support the continued development of its quality, health, safety and environmental systems.
This is a part-time position (3 days per week) offering flexibility in how hours are structured. The role will be primarily based in Aberdeenshire, with occasional travel to operational sites.
This is a broad, hands-on position where you’ll take ownership of QHSE processes across the business. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining compliance, improving standards, and supporting ongoing ISO development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Developing and reviewing risk assessments, procedures, and work instructions
- Managing the training matrix and supporting workforce competency tracking
- Leading internal audits and supporting external accreditation processes
- Driving progress towards ISO 14001 accreditation
- Conducting site inspections and supporting day-to-day safety compliance
- Leading RIDDOR investigations and incident management
- Maintaining key registers including NCR logs, action trackers, and legal register
- Monitoring legislative updates and ensuring business compliance
- Supporting management reviews and ongoing business risk processes (SWOT / PESTEL / risk registers)
- Maintaining business continuity planning and wider QHSE documentation
- You’ll be a proactive QHSE professional who enjoys working across both operational and strategic areas of the business.
Required for the role:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- Experience in a site-based or hands-on HSE/QHSE role
- Strong working knowledge of ISO standards and auditing processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft packages
