Temple University's Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking a Clinical Director/Hygienist to oversee all operational functions at the Tamaqua, PA clinic.

Salary Range
$80,000 to $90,000 annual, with HR reviewing duties, education, experience, internal equity, budget, and funding source.
Position Summary
Using effective management principles and in compliance with standards, laws, and regulations, the Clinical Director will be responsible for operational functions for the school’s clinic. The role includes startup responsibilities such as workflow design, protocol development, regulatory compliance, and preparation for inspections. After launch, the director will manage systems, scheduling optimization, tele‑dentistry, process improvement, and strategic planning to meet patient demand while maintaining quality care. The director also handles financial transactions, ensures proper billing, supervises staff training, and collaborates with faculty to resolve treatment and scheduling issues.
Responsibilities
* Lead clinic startup: workflow design, protocol development, regulatory compliance, and inspection preparation.
* Oversee systems management: scheduling, tele‑dentistry, process improvement and strategic planning.
* Handle financial management: billing, payments, invoice troubleshooting.
* Supervise, train, and mentor clinical and administrative staff.
* Resolve patient treatment‑plan and scheduling issues in collaboration with faculty and staff.
* Manage inventory, equipment, and supplies; maintain proper infection control practices.
* Engage in community outreach and develop school‑based oral health programs.
* Serve as a clinician as needed, performing direct patient care, recalls, and scheduling.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years managing a large medical or dental clinic, together with a current or soon‑obtainable Pennsylvania dental hygienist license. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Will travel between Philadelphia and Tamaqua clinical locations.
* Obtain PA child‑abuse clearance.
* Expert knowledge of preauthorization and reimbursement processes.
* Schedule, supervise, and develop staff.
* Computer proficiency and MS Office Suite skills.
* Exceptional organizational, planning, and project‑management skills.
* Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.

* Experience using electronic health records software.
* Knowledge of computer systems and applications used in dental practice.
Essential Duties
* Develop efficient business operations, reducing waste and unnecessary steps.
* Ensure infection control practices are followed and violations addressed.
* Train and develop staff to meet performance expectations.
* Coordinate daily staff assignments for coverage and efficiency.
* Appraise performance, reward, discipline, and address complaints.
* Maintain high‑quality clinic operations at all times.
* Track timesheets, scheduling, PTO, FMLA, and related administrative tasks.
* Assist with regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control).
* Oversee instrument and supply inventory and procurement.
* Ensure timely repair of equipment, furniture, and facilities.
* Communicate consistently with the Associate Dean and faculty leadership.
* Respond to emergencies and answer questions.
* Document patient complaints, staff performance issues, incidents, and suspected criminal activities.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all laws and regulations.
* Interview and recommend candidates for open positions.
* Complete all documentation and paperwork within deadlines.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
