Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician Primary Care and Community Pharmacy based at Biggart Hospital, Ayrshire Central Hospital or Central Clinic.

What you will do:

The post-holder will work autonomously under the direction of the Principal Pharmacist – Community Pharmacy, Public Health and HSCP. Professional leadership and support will be provided from the Chief Pharmacy Technician – Primary Care.

· To develop the role of the pharmacy teams within the HSCP supporting the delivery and development of the national community pharmacy contract and locally developed pharmaceutical services.

· Provision of expert advice to health and social care professionals within the Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) on community pharmacy issues.

· To support and facilitate the delivery of strategic and operational prescribing priorities within the Community Pharmacy network.

· Representing NHS A&A at regional and national meetings.

· Develop strong professional links and maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders in the HSCP, including the clinical director, cluster leads, GPs, nurses, AHP’s, community pharmacists, Care at Home Pharmacy Technicians, practice managers & staff, hospital pharmacists, and other NHS staff.

· Effective professional leadership and line management of pharmacy teams providing a pharmacotherapy service within a defined group of GP practices and develop links between these teams and community pharmacy teams to benefit pharmaceutical care.

· To deliver a highly specialised pharmacy service to a broad range of inpatient groups within the General practice setting and support its delivery in a community pharmacy setting.

· Provide day to day supervision and management for the lower banded staff members of the technical Pharmacy Team in Primary Care and Community care.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You will have excellent communication skills, demonstrate working part of a multi-disciplinary team. Also, IT skills, organisational skills and time management are key to the role. You will be a qualified pharmacy technician with SQA National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences and SVQ level 3 – Pharmacy Services,or have an equivalent qualification. You should hold membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council if you are a registered pharmacy technician.

Additionally, you should demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

Hours:

37 hours per week Monday-Friday 0830am-1630pm

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
