This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspect of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract. Key Responsibilities: Support the Transport Manager in leading, managing, and motivating the transport team to maximise performance against commercial targets, efficiency, profitability, and customer service standards. Provide day-to-day operational leadership, overseeing transport activities including dispatch, work in progress, and issue resolution. Plan and operate a busy and time-critical transport schedule, ensuring effective resource allocation and service delivery. Manage, brief, and debrief drivers to ensure compliance, performance, and continuous improvement across operations. Maintain regular communication with customer sites, proactively advising of delays, issues, or changes to service. Oversee the yard and shunting operation to ensure safe, efficient movement of vehicles and trailers. Monitor, audit, and drive adherence to Health & Safety standards, acting as a key contributor in advancing the business's H&S culture and vision. Identify, report, and follow up on vehicle defects, ensuring prompt resolution and compliance with legal and company standards. Produce regular reports for the Transport Manager on operational performance and customer-related matters, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate. Handle queries and communication via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions in a professional and timely manner. Support the production and analysis of KPIs and daily operational statistics. Assist with compliance planning, ensuring all activities are aligned with company policies and legal requirements. Provide support in the event of breakdowns or operational disruptions, ensuring minimal impact to service. Build and maintain positive working relationships across departments, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment. Requirements: Bring your transport expertise to the table, including solid knowledge of the Working Time Directive and EU driver hours regulations. Communicate with confidence and clarity at every level, building strong relationships across the business. Leverage your strong UK geographical knowledge to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. Showcase your organisational skills by prioritising tasks and managing a busy workload with ease.
