How You’ll have an Impact:
As a Fleet Planner at RXO Derby, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and
customer satisfaction. You will independently manage daily planning of vehicle movements using cost-effective strategies and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards. Your efforts will
directly contribute to maintaining fleet availability, reducing costs, and supporting high service performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Essential Functions:
1. Plan efficient routes and driver schedules using Qargo TMS to optimize LTL and FTL deliveries
2. Understand national road networks, regional traffic patterns, and route constraints.
3. Apply UK/EU rules on driver working hours, breaks, and tachograph usage.
4. Assign jobs to drivers based on route viability, vehicle type, and driver availability.
5. Record issues (e.g. delays, breakdowns, complaints) against jobs when needed.
6. Brief drivers on hours, routes, and locations; provide real-time support.
7. React quickly to road closures, weather, delays, or staff changes.
8. Liaise with subcontractors, agencies, and external partners.
9. Report on vehicle/trailer availability, maintenance, and driver schedules.

10. Strong decision-making and commercial judgment in time-sensitive, peak-demand environments
11. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to communicate across all levels of the organization
12. Familiar with VOSA legislation, including tachograph and working time directive compliance
13. Demonstrated to thrive under pressure in fast-changing, operationally complex environments
14. Ability to speak English fluently
