Financial Controller, Luton, Bedfordshire £50,000 - £60,000, Plus Benefits We're working with a fast-growing SME based in Luton that is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to take ownership of its finance function. This is a key hire for the business, offering a mix of hands-on delivery and strategic input within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Key responsibilities include: * Full ownership of the finance function, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close * Preparation of management accounts and statutory financial reporting * Balance sheet control, reconciliations, and maintenance of robust audit trails * Managing audits and liaising with external accountants, auditors, and advisors * Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team * Designing and improving financial controls, policies, and procedures * Overseeing tax reporting and supporting external tax specialists * Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning * Delivering insightful financial analysis to support commercial decision-making * Ownership of finance systems, driving efficiencies, automation, and system improvements Candidate Profile * Strong hands-on experience across transactional and core accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, journals, and year-end processes * Solid understanding of accounting standards and best practice * Confident working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and using accounting systems effectively * Previous experience in a small or growing business, with an understanding of the pace and evolving priorities * Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capability * Proven leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders * Detail-oriented, well-organised, and committed to accuracy * Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment AGY - Vitae Financial Recruitment We Exist To Be Different - Membership NOT Registration
