Summary of role: Provide strong leadership to achieve a safe compliant working environment for all employees, providing a quality engineering service with executing capital projects, maintaining plant facilities and ensuring a planned maintenance schedule to meet the manufacturing performance needs of the business unit. Current direct reports 1 to 5 with non-direct circa to 40 Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager: Ensure site compliance with all regulatory and corporate environmental, health and safety standards. Provides direction, leadership, strategy and support to the Engineering Team to enable the plant to deliver quality products. Responsible for overseeing all the site's major engineering projects. Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met, quality standards maintained, and budgetary controls adhered to. Manage implementation of maintenance schedules and other maintenance tasks. Provide engineering resource for the site for new and existing plant and equipment. In conjunction with Plant Management and Senior Management, develop business strategy for the site engineering function, managing resources to meet Company goals. Experience of project planning and ability to liaise with other departments to ensure all requirements are met. Track and monitor fixed and variable costs and continually improve the cost base of the plant on a sustainable basis Identify capital programs with the Plant which sustains the operations and provides compliance to legislative requirements. Direct plant operations for the manufacture of beverage products in accordance with process, product specifications and quality standards. Establishes, maintains, and develops an effective working relationship with all Plant suppliers and customers through performance, contact and communication. Specification and negotiation of service contracts. Collaborative working with Senior Managers to ensure bench marking exercises are in place with respect to plant machinery, systems and protocols. Implement sustainable systems of work with tracking and monitoring to achieve plant KPIs and budgets Requirements of the Engineering Manager Experienced Engineering Manager who is highly experienced working in a precision engineering environment Degree qualified in engineering or manufacturing Strong background in managing CAPEX projects An understanding of high-speed manufacturing and support requirements are essential Recognised engineering and continuous improvement qualifications, Lean, SMED, Greenbelt Experienced in managing and delivering large scale change/projects. This position is site based on the facility full time; occasional business may be required to attend meetings with equivalent engineering managers from other sites on an annual basis. Applicants will need to commute to the Chester/Cheshire region.
