Job Summary
You will work as part of a small proactive team of NHSBT staff and contractors who are customer focussed and have a can-do attitude, enabling colleagues across the organisation to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. The Estates & Facilities team makes a real contribution to saving and improving lives and have a major impact on the Donor Experience what could be better than that?
You will build lasting relationships with our busy operational staff and fully immerse yourself in leading as well as developing your in-house team. Bringing your enthusiasm, experience, and skills, you will help us improve and oversee contracts for key areas such as planned maintenance, repairs, cleaning, catering, and security.
In this role you get to see the fruits of your efforts make a positive impact for the operational teams, so that they have a great place to work from and deliver lifesaving product and services to hospitals. You will be working collaboratively with our customers, and you will be key in supporting the Head of Centre for Barnsley and Departments Heads to maintain a busy and effective main centre, and satellite properties such as donor centres.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for managing the effective and efficient provision of a wide range of Estates & Facilities services at the blood centre, and its satellite premises in line with national standards and to meet the needs of customers. Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing and developing managers, administrators, receptionists, technicians, and support services staff.
* Ensuring the continuous operation of facilities, which is critical to the provision of products and services that NHSBT supplies to hospitals and patients.
* Contributing to the strategic development of the estate, including the formulation of NHSBT’s Estates Strategy, through proactive engagement with colleagues and customers.
* Operating a highly responsive, service-orientated environment where teamwork and communication, regulatory and statutory compliance, budgetary control, performance management and business continuity are key to its success.
You will occasionally be required to travel and spend time away from base (with prior notice), which will involve working irregular hours and sometimes overnight stays.
You will be required to be part of an on-call rota, providing cover which may include weekend and public holiday.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
* Demonstrable facilities management experience/technical knowledge in the service environment at senior level.
* Experience of identifying and introducing best practice in all aspects of Facilities management including administration, maintenance both hard and soft services.
* Knowledge and implementation of Health and Safety regulations.
* Experience working across functions and promote teamwork.
* Experience of managing resources against an agreed budget
* Leadership and management experience.
* Experience in managing contractors.
* Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).
Qualifications and Training
* Degree or professional qualification in Facilities Management, or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
