Town Planner
Location: Shrewsbury
Penguin Recruitment is working on behalf of a well established property and land development business to recruit a Town Planner for their Shrewsbury office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner to join an in-house planning team, working on a varied portfolio of residential, mixed-use, and strategic land projects. The role offers hands-on involvement across the full planning lifecycle, from early site appraisal through to securing planning consent and supporting delivery.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you will:
Manage and support planning applications, pre-applications, and appeals
Undertake site appraisals and provide planning advice on development opportunities
Liaise with local planning authorities, consultants, and key stakeholders
Monitor local plan policy and contribute to strategic planning submissions
Support land promotion and development strategy across the portfolio
Prepare clear, well-reasoned planning reports and recommendations
About You
The ideal Town Planner will have:
A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
Experience working in consultancy, local authority, or an in-house planning role
A solid understanding of the UK planning system and development management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple projects and work proactively
RTPI membership or working towards chartership
