The Senior Research Associate is a hands‑on laboratory role focused on the execution of antibody conjugation and purification workflows using established methods. You’ll work closely with experienced scientists and team leaders, contributing to high‑quality, reproducible outputs that support customer demand and downstream R&D activities. This position reports to the Team Leader and is part of the Conjugation Development Platform Team within Research and Development, located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site role. What you’ll be doing Performing antibody conjugations using established protocols and technologies Purifying conjugated products using techniques such as AKTA/FPLC, HPLC, and spectroscopy Assessing product quality pre‑ and post‑conjugation using standard analytical methods Accurately documenting experimental work using BMRs, lab notebooks, and Oracle ERP in line with SOPs and ISO9001:2015 standards Contributing ideas for incremental process improvements and supporting SOP updates alongside more senior team members Collaborating closely with colleagues across R&D and downstream teams to ensure smooth hand‑offs and consistent delivery Who this role is ideal for This role would suit someone who: Enjoys hands‑on bench work and working to defined protocols Is building confidence in independent experimental execution Wants to deepen their expertise in conjugation, purification, and QC within industry Values consistency, quality, and teamwork over strategic ownership at this stage What you’ll bring A BSc in Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline 1–2 years of relevant industry or applied laboratory experience Practical experience in one or more of the following: Protein purification Conjugation chemistry QC techniques such as ELISA, SDS‑PAGE, Western blot, or related assays Strong attention to detail and a proactive, flexible approach to lab work A genuine interest in developing your career within an R&D environment Abcam, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
