Events Manager, Royal Television Society

Reports to: Head of Events
Location: London Office (with regular in-person events)
Working pattern: Because of the nature of the job, the Events Manager will be required to work hours outside of normal office hours as and when is necessary to cover events at the time they occur.

Role overview
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, producing and delivering a wide range of high-profile events that support the Royal Television Society's charitable mission to develop, support and celebrate talent across the television and media industries.

The role oversees the RTS Futures initiative, supporting early-career talent through networking events, panel discussions, digital webinars and the annual Careers Fair. It plays a key creative and strategic role in shaping Futures event content, formats and audience experience. The Events Manager will independently manage complex event projects from concept through to delivery, while working closely with internal teams, patrons, industry partners and suppliers.

Additionally, the role supports the Craft & Design Awards and Programme Awards alongside the Head of Events.

Duties/Key Responsibilities
Organise events as directed by the Head of Events. Duties include but are not limited to: production of marketing information for events, budgeting including P&L analysis, cost control, ticket pricing, setting up booking and ticketing systems, website event updates, issuing invitations to VIPs, liaison with venues, production of delegate information sheets, running orders, and coordinating technical arrangements.
Oversee the RTS Futures Committee and manage RTS Futures events, ensuring creative formats and consistent delivery. Monitor and improve RTS Futures processes to streamline production, enhance consistency, and maximise audience engagement.
Initiate and lead new Futures event concepts and special projects, pitching ideas to the Head of Events and overseeing full delivery, including scheduling and delivery within the RTS events calendar.
Alongside the Head of Corporate Development work to develop and implement sponsorship strategies for RTS Futures, identifying potential funding sources and managing relationships with potential sponsors and partners.
Organise the annual RTS Futures Careers Fair, including venue management, exhibitor research and liaison, AV, catering, ticket sales, marketing, content design and sponsorship opportunities.
Organise the RTS Student Masterclasses (run over one day) in November.
Organise the annual Industry Connect (which takes place end of August) at ITV White City.
Support the Craft & Design Awards and Programme Awards alongside the Head of Events, managing guest lists, seating plans, VIP receptions, dietary requirements, and event logistics.
Process and approve awards entries via the RTS online awards entry system; training will be provided.
Process bookings for Awards, Craft & Design and Programme Awards via the RTS online awards booking system; training will be provided.
Manage outstanding payments, raise PO's and amend Invoices and ensure timely follow-up.
Order and dispatch duplicate awards orders; responsibility shared within the department.
Attend events as directed by the Head of Events and act as the primary on-site contact where required.
Collaborate with Digital, Membership and Finance teams to produce event materials, promotional content, and ensure financial accuracy.
Maintain strong relationships with venues, suppliers, patrons, trustees, and key stakeholders to ensure successful event outcomes.
Undertake any other tasks as directed by the Head of Events.

About You

Essential
Proven experience in event management, including end-to-end delivery of live and/or digital events.
Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including trustees, patrons, members and the public.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and problem-solve under pressure, while remaining calm in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
High level of attention to detail, with a strong eye for accuracy and quality.
Professional and friendly manner at all times.
Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn and use CRM, ticketing, booking and awards systems.
Genuine interest in television, media and the creative industries.

Desirable
Experience working in the television and/or media industry.
Knowledge and understanding of the television and media industry landscape.
