A Domiciliary Carer provides essential person‑centred care and support to individuals within their own homes, enabling them to maintain independence and improve their overall quality of life. This varied role focuses on physical, emotional, and social well‑being while following a personalised support plan.

Preferably: Drivers with valid UK Drving License.


Core Responsibilities

* Personal Care: Assisting with daily hygiene routines, including washing, bathing, showering, and grooming, and support with dressing, undressing, and continence management.
* Mobility Support: Helping clients move safely around their home, including getting in and out of bed or using specialised equipment like hoists and wheelchairs.
* Medication Management: Administering or prompting prescribed medications and maintaining accurate records (MAR charts).
* Nutrition & Hydration: Planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks tailored to dietary needs and personal preferences.
* Domestic Duties: Carrying out light household tasks such as vacuuming, laundry, ironing, and general cleaning to maintain a safe, hygienic environment.
* Companionship & Social Inclusion: Providing emotional support through conversation and shared activities to reduce isolation, and escorting clients to social events, medical appointments, or running errands like grocery shopping and prescription collection.
* Monitoring & Reporting: Observing the client’s physical and mental health for any changes or signs of distress and reporting concerns to managers or healthcare professionals immediately.
* Safeguarding: Ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals by following safeguarding procedures and identifying potential risks or hazards in the home.


Key Skills & Requirements

* Interpersonal Skills: Patience, kindness, and empathy are essential for building rapport with service users and their families.
* Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and other professionals (e.g., GPs, nurses, social workers).
* Reliability: A flexible approach to work, often requiring a rota that includes weekends and bank holidays.
* Mobility: Many roles require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel between clients.
* Documentation: Diligence in keeping concise, factual records and care notes in line with CQC (Care Quality Commission) standards.
