Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour (£24,638 per annum). This will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

Health Care Support Worker vacancies: 1 full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, within the Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services at Annwylfan Ward, Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly.

Shift patterns include working 7 days a week on 12-hour day and night shifts. Flexible working patterns may be considered.


Main duties of the job

Annwylfan is a 16-bed Older Adult Mental Health Dementia Assessment ward. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and other professionals. You must be an excellent team player, motivated, and enthusiastic about working in a demanding but rewarding environment. Flexibility to work rotational shift patterns covering 24 hours is essential. An interest in older adult inpatient care and the ability to work in a busy, challenging environment are important. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Currently, we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Applicants requiring sponsorship are therefore unable to be shortlisted or interviewed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria:

* NVQ Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent

Desirable criteria:

* Educated to GCSE A-C in core subjects


Experience

* Experience working within health and/or social service settings

* Ability to work as part of a professional team
* Effective listening and verbal communication skills
* Ability to remain calm in stressful or challenging situations

Desirable:

* Ability to assist others with basic daily life skills and activities
