Brief Description
To lead the development and continuous improvement of service provision to the delivery organizations within the area / route teams and develop strategies to meet or exceed customer requirements and company commitments for punctuality, performance, planning, resource management and maintenance improvement. To support the Head of Maintenance Delivery in the management of the delivery teams in attainment of corporate objectives and develop and implement strategies for key local and national business initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead and direct the team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures and objectives.
* Identify and manage development of safety, asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives and best practice and monitor benefits achieved against business cases.
* Responsible for production of periodic / quarterly / annual inputs into key route meetings including DUBR, ABR, MBR, QBR and SBP reviews.
* Lead and manage area interfaces with major projects and programmes of work on the area and monitor progress against agreed programme.
* Lead, develop and review maintenance Strategic Business Plan submissions and budgets to support delivery of corporate objectives.
* Lead and direct the delivery of civil engineering inspections to achieve compliance and meet key business objectives.
* Lead and direct the delivery of telecom maintenance activities to achieve compliance and meet key business objectives.
* Lead the development and implementation of local and national initiatives, including LEAN, PLPR, RBM and RCM, across the area to deliver agreed strategic business plan efficiencies.
* Lead the management and agreement of maintenance volumes with Route Asset Management and drive the implementation of the maintenance unit cost framework.
* Responsible for management of resources including RRV's, drainage vehicles, weed spraying, rail head treatment trains, rail grinding and on track machines.
* Lead Area Reliability Groups to improve asset resilience and performance.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree or equivalent standard.
* Able to demonstrate relevant Railway experience.
* The ability to balance stakeholder expectations and perceptions against the needs and capabilities of the business.
* Proven track record of managing people.
* Working knowledge of health and safety management and compliance management processes.
* Detailed knowledge of railway processes and techniques.
* Experience of customer relationship management.
* Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures.
* Desirable: Membership of relevant professional body.
* Knowledge of coaching techniques.
