Free meals and on-site parking.The Role As Medical Director, you'll provide strategic clinical leadership across the hospital, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, governance and medical practice while helping shape the future direction of the service.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll continue practising as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, taking overall responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of young people with complex mental health needs. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you'll ensure every patient receives safe, compassionate and evidence-based care while driving continuous improvements across the hospital.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic medical leadership and acting as the senior clinical voice across the hospital.
Leading clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Supervising and supporting Consultant Psychiatrists, Specialty Doctors and Associate Specialists.
Recruiting, developing and mentoring the medical workforce.
Chairing Medical Advisory Committee meetings and contributing to wider organisational medical leadership.
Assessing, diagnosing and managing young people with complex mental health presentations.
Leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk management discussions and treatment planning.
Preparing reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and Managers' Hearings.
Working collaboratively with families, commissioners and external agencies, including the Ministry of Justice where appropriate.
Participating in the regional Consultant on-call rota.About You To be successful, you'll have:
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
MBBS (or equivalent medical qualification).
Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register through CCT or CESR.
Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status.
Significant experience working within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and current mental health legislation.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, support and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or an equivalent qualification.
Outstanding communication, assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
