Overview
Senior Construction Manager role at MWH Treatment.
Location: Preston, Lancashire, and other UK sites. This role involves leading and advising the site team across all construction, supervision and project delivery on major projects (£50-£100M). Reporting to the Head of Construction or Regional Construction Manager, you will drive the direction, coordination, implementation, execution and control of all construction operations, ensuring SHEQ, programme and staffing requirements are met and delivering improvements in project delivery.
Responsibilities
* Work with project discipline leads to allocate project staff and ensure resources are in place to deliver the work scope.
* Be responsible and accountable for all non-working supervision, civils, mechanical, electrical and commissioning site activities, including those provided by the supply chain. Assess and allocate skills as needed.
* Advise and review construction operations, delivery, buildability and programme, ensuring alignment with HSEQ requirements.
* Manage risk and reviews, ensuring direct cost, programme and risk understanding.
* Manage subcontractors to meet expectations and standards; ensure staffing and skills are available to deliver subcontracted work safely and on programme.
* Support and supervise direct labour requirements; agree and sign off self-delivery proposals and monitor cost build ups; support compliance and performance delivery as required.
* Oversee project progress and programme performance.
* Assist HSEQ and Operational teams with investigations and reports; implement lessons learned and changes.
* Support the Project Lead Temporary Works Coordinator to plan, manage, supervise and review temporary works.
* Assist with Project Lifting arrangements to ensure lifting operations are planned, managed and reviewed.
* Assess individual performance and conduct Personal Development Reviews (PDRs).
Essential qualifications
* Extensive construction experience leading and supervising operations across multiple projects, including major projects.
* Experience in project delivery and leading supervision on major civil engineering activities and temporary works.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* CSCS Level 6 Black card or equivalent.
* CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator or equivalent.
* IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent.
* Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
* Working knowledge of CDM and construction health and safety.
Desirable qualifications
* Experience in water and wastewater treatment plants.
* Lifting operations qualifications (CPCS/Lifting Operations AP).
* Experience with confined spaces (medium/high risk).
* SMSTS / IOSH certified.
* CSCS Level 6 or higher.
