Consultant Arboriculturalist at WSP
This role is part of WSP's Ecology and Arboriculture team, delivering integrated, commercially balanced solutions across the UK for both private and public sector clients.
Job Description
Do you have a passion for trees? You will be expected to be involved with several projects concurrently and be a proactive member of the team. GIS and CAD knowledge is a plus; experience with digital data capture devices in the field is preferred.
Your New Role – What’s Involved?
* Provide support to the Principal and Senior Consultant
* Site based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments.
* Collation and interpretation of arboricultural information from desk studies.
* Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, arboricultural impact assessments and method statements.
* Liaising with design team developing mitigation solutions.
* Data analysis and project management.
* Support senior and junior team members.
* Work on NSIP / DCO projects and prepare technical reports.
* Manage tight deadlines, work to agreed standards and deliver high quality work.
* Project pricing for small sites.
* Participate in recruitment when asked.
* Encourage junior team members’ career development.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn.
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in arboriculture or related field.
* Professional Tree Inspectors (PTI) certificate.
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant or local authority tree officer.
* Experience conducting surveys using digital data capture.
* Ability to produce high quality technical reports in support of planning applications.
* Work pragmatically with landscape, environmental and arboricultural professionals.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and survey methodologies.
* Flexibility to travel within the UK regularly.
* Desire to develop core arboriculture and consultancy skills.
* Positive health and safety approach.
* Professionalism in all aspects of work.
