Rotational Pharmacist (Band 6 to Band 7 Progression)

Are you a trainee pharmacist looking to register as a pharmacist with the GPhC in the Summer 2026? Are you striving to improve patient care and experience, whilst looking to expand and grow your knowledge within Hospital Pharmacy?
Join our small and friendly established team and we will offer structured progression from a Band 6 to a Band 7 position within an 18‑24‑month period. The role is a development position with learning opportunities in a top‑ranked NHS Trust and teaching hospital.
Main duties of the job
As part of your role you will participate in a range of rotations:
* Acute medicine
* Gastroenterology / respiratory
* Cardiology / care of the elderly
* Stroke
* Surgery and orthopaedics
You will work with a multidisciplinary team including:
* Medical and surgical teams
* Allied health professionals
* Nutrition team
* Pain team
* Hospice
Your day‑to‑day duties will include:
* Clinical review of inpatients
* Providing clinical advice to other professionals
* Supporting the dispensary (a small portion of your day)
As a Pharmacist at North Devon District Hospital, you will deliver a high‑quality Clinical Pharmacy service across a diverse range of wards. The role offers exposure to various specialties, enabling you to develop core knowledge and skills and to pursue professional development such as a clinical diploma or independent prescribing course.
Professional progression
Newly Qualified Pharmacists will begin at a Band 6 level, laying a solid foundation in all essential areas of Hospital Pharmacy. We support funding for a clinical diploma, and upon completion of well‑defined developmental gateways you will progress to a Band 7 pharmacist.
Working pattern
37.5 hours per week.
