CR Civil Engineering, part of the RSK Group, is a family-run business based in the Midlands, operating throughout England and Wales. We currently have an exciting opportunity for Apprentice Groundworkers.

We are looking to recruit apprentice groundworkers for our teams in South Yorkshire and East Midlands. Additionally, we have a vacancy in our South team, where the right candidate will be required to work away from home Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. This role offers subsistence allowances, and candidates preferably should be based in West Wales (Carmarthenshire preferred).

The Role:

You will work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviors needed to become a successful Groundworker Apprentice and complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship, potentially including Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths if required. Your responsibilities will include learning about the maintenance and repair of highways, roads, and pavements.

Responsibilities:

* Carry out various labouring/groundworks to specifications, standards, and timescales, under the supervision of a Ganger/Foreman.
* Maintain punctuality and good attendance.
* Follow workplace safety regulations, rules, and company policies.
* Communicate professionally and respectfully with personnel on site.
* Develop skills in trades such as kerbing, paving, drainage, and related groundworks.
* Keep accurate logs of training hours, tasks, photos, and skills for college portfolios.
* Learn to work safely around utilities and services during groundworks.
* Work effectively with colleagues, clients, and suppliers, maintaining professionalism and quality standards.
* Attend college as required and aim to pass the apprenticeship successfully.
* Support site tasks as directed by the Site Manager and Ganger.
* Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, method statements, and risk assessments.
* Participate in performance reviews and respond to feedback.
* Focus on areas of improvement identified during assessments.
* Learn to operate plant and equipment safely, as required.
* Possess a full UK Driving License and have own transport to commute to sites.
* Be 18 or older.
* Work well in a team.
* Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
* Be willing to undertake training and development.
* Be available to travel and lodge away from home from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications:

- GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 4 or above)
