Fraudulent recruiters have been using social media platforms to dupe potential job seekers into divulging personal and financial information.

Sophisticated frauds, involving grooming of targeted individuals, shows the fake recruiter asking the unsuspecting job seeker to take part in a fake job interview, either over the phone or via WhatsApp, and also sending fraudulent follow-up correspondence offering job positions.

Any communication about jobs at Oxford University Hospitals will come from 'Trac', or via an ouh.nhs.uk email address.

All meetings and interviews will be scheduled on Microsoft Teams from a verified OUH email account.

Applications are invited for the newly created post of Specialty Doctor in Glaucoma & Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals Trust. We are looking to make a substantive appointment to the Eye Hospital team with the aim to provide consistency and stability to the workforce and offer the post holder the opportunity to develop existing clinical skills and autonomy.


Main duties of the job

The minimum requirement for this post is 10 sessions. The principal purpose of the post will be to support the general clinical activity and sub-speciality activity in the Glaucoma and Neuro-Ophthalmology service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical

The post holder’s core duties of 10 sessions will be within the Oxford Eye Hospital and will form a mixture of glaucoma and neuro clinics, some may be within the emergency eye clinics. There will be necessary time for administrative duties. This post is furthermore made up of 0.5 PA of audit / service development activities and 0.5 PA admin

Teaching

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is a world-renowned teaching hospital, and the post holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students and training junior doctors. The post-holder ’ s contribution to teaching and training will be included in the regular job plan review.

Research

It is expected that the successful applicant will support any research being undertaken in the department.

Clinical Governance

The post-holder will participate in all clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trusts, and external accrediting bodies.

Personal and Professional Development

The post-holder will be required to keep fully up to date with their relevant area of practice and to be able to demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the Trust. Professional or study leave will be granted at the discretion of the Clinical Lead/Clinical Director, in keeping with the prevailing terms and conditions of service, to support appropriate study, postgraduate training activities, relevant CME courses and other appropriate personal development needs.

Management

The post-holder will be required to work within the Trusts ’ management policies and procedures, both statutory and internal, accepting that the resources available to the Trusts are finite and that all changes in clinical practice or workload, or developments requiring additional resources must have prior agreement with the Trusts. They will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his /her patients and the running of his/her clinical department under the direction of the lead clinician and/or directorate chair.


Person specification


Qualifications

* Full registration and licence to practice with GMC
* At least 4-years post-grad training in a relevant specialty
* MRCOphth or equivalent
* FRCOphth or equivalent


Experience

* Experience as a specialty trainee or specialty doctor in general ophthalmology, including clinic and surgery
* Evidence of recent CME activity and satisfactory career progression
* Ability to make independent decisions
* Previous glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology experience in clinic and surgery


Skills and knowledge

* Ability to motivate and develop trainee medical staff
* Work independently and effectively organise/manage clinical workload
* Undertake the role of specialty doctor in a large teaching hospital
* Good personal and interpersonal skills
* Effective communication - verbal and written
* Experience of clinical audit
* Experience teaching undergraduates
* Involvement in previous ophthalmology research projects


Other

* Full driving licence
