Step Teachers Manchester are recruiting for a PRU Teacher for a supportive secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Macclesfield. They have short‑term & long-term supply roles available; designed for educators who can bring flexibility, empathy, and structure to a non‑mainstream setting.
Role: PRU Teacher - Secondary (KS3/KS4)
Location: Macclesfield.
Start: September 2025
Contract: Short & Long-term supply roles.
Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm.
Pay: Up to £210/day DOE
Paid PAYE directly via Step Teachers (no umbrella companies).
Long‑term placements transition to scale pay from week13.

What You'll Do
- Teach small, ability‑grouped classes (fewer than 10 pupils), delivering structured, inclusive lessons across English, Math's, Science, PSHE, ICT, and vocational subjects.
- Engage students who've struggled in mainstream settings-many are dual‑registered and at risk of or previously excluded-helping to re‑engage their learning and aspirations.
- Create a calm, nurturing environment focused on emotional regulation, self‑esteem, and academic progress, backed by a whole‑person, individualised approach.
- Support students' holistic development through pastoral care, structured timetables (often one afternoon session), and access to purposeful recreational time including activities like darts, pool, or creative breaks.

Ideal Candidate
- Holds UK QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experienced or confident teaching KS3/KS4 in challenging, specialist settings
- Flexible, proactive, and adept at building rapport with disengaged learners
- Skilled at delivering both academic and vocational learning in nurturing, small‑group contexts.
