Electrical Design Engineer

Are you an electrical engineer who loves rolling up your sleeves but also knows how to bring order and structure to design? We're a thriving SME in Loughborough, and we're looking for someone who can take ownership of the electrical side of our next generation of products.
This isn't a short-term "just draw the wires" role — we've had that before. What we really need is someone experienced who can set the standards, review and refine the templates, symbols, and components, and properly setting up
AutoCAD Electrical
for our configurable product range.
What You'll Be Doing
* Own the electrical side of our product design, from schematics to testing.
* Bring structure to our design process — setting up AutoCAD Electrical properly for configurable products.
* Refine and improve control panel designs.
* Get hands-on when needed: wiring, testing, and supporting small-batch manufacturing.
* Be the go-to problem solver for electrical challenges in new and existing products.
We're looking for someone who:
* Holds a Degree, HND or Level 5 qualification in electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar.
* Has ~3+ years of practical experience in machinery or equipment-based roles.
* Is fluent in electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical or similar) and knows control panels inside out.
* Has hands-on skills in wiring, testing, and assembly.
* Works methodically, communicates clearly, and takes real ownership.
Bonus Points If You Also Have
* Experience designing for international power specs (50Hz vs. 60Hz).
* Familiarity with PLCs, control systems, or configurable manufacturing.
* A background in small-batch or specialist product design.
