Job DescriptionWithin an IT environment, to train and participate in “system life cycle duties” by providing technical support in the ICT infrastructure environment across our corporate estate and the ICT Service Desk; and to support current and evolving digital transformation initiatives within East Ayrshire Council while undertaking the Digital Technology: Infrastructure SCQF Level 6 qualification.\n \nThe level of participation will expand as the post holder's relevant experience and/or qualifications increase; and in order to assist with the promotion, delivery and integration of the key objectives in relation to those identified within the Finance and ICT Service Plan and the Community Plan.\n \nIf you require further information please contact Liz Angus at\nliz.angus@east-ayrshire.gov.ukRequirementsWe follow the national guidance in relation to pre-employment checks namely “Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment”. East Ayrshire Council is a Disability Confident employer and a Recruit with Conviction Ambassador.\n \nAs part of this Modern Apprentice programme, the successful candidates will participate and complete the following:\n \nEducation Attainment\n \nYear 1 - SCQF Level 6 in Digital Technology (Infrastructure); this programme will be facilitated by a 3rd party training partner of the Council.\n \nYear 2-4 - HNC or HND in Computing (Computer Science); this course will be undertaken on a day release basis at Ayrshire College.
Course costs/travel expenses will be met by the Council.\n \nWork Experience\n \nYear 1-2 - Generic introduction to ICT & digital, including the ICT Service Desk, across both Infrastructure & Digital and Applications & Business\n \nYear 3-4 - Depending on progress in years 1 and 2, the postholder will 'specialise' in one or two areas of Infrastructure & Digital\n \nSalary\n \nYear 1 – salary will be as per the Council’s modern apprentice programme\n \nYear 2-4 – Scottish National Living wage (dependant on attendance at FE College)
